benefit of Kas Scholarship

Master’s students get up to €992 every month for two years. Doctoral students get up to €1,400 every month for three years.

There are extra helps too, like:

  • Money for health insurance (up to €120 per month).
  • Family allowance of €276.
  • Child allowance of €250 for each child.
  • Grants for travel to do research in other countries.
  • Some money back for university fees.

Students also join a big network of people from around the world who got this scholarship before or now. They can go to many workshops and seminars. They can even plan their own events. There is a team that gives personal help during studies and for planning the future job.

Who can apply?

This is open for people from Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Ethiopia. Applicants need to:

  • Be very good in studies.
  • Show they care about social or political work.
  • Know German language well, at least B2 level (with a certificate from Goethe-Institut).

For Master’s: Students must join a four-semester Master’s program at a German university. For Doctoral: They need to have a plan for their research project.

For Master’s:
